Gorilla Hattara
The Hattara is a simple TIG-welded frame. It's the least expensive of Gorilla's fixed gear offerings, but the tubing is doublebutted Dedacciai. And, as you'd expect from an Italian product, the welds are neat enough to set off your vintage Cinelli parts nicely.
Gorilla bill the Hattara as a track frame, citing the high BB, tight geometry and fast handling. But the clearances have been tweaked to the point where you can fit 700-25s -- 28s at a pinch -- and the Columbus fork has a properly drilled crown. In other words, it's gagging to be built up as a streetfix. There's even a brake bridge at the rear. (But no cableguides, so you'll have to use clips if you want a brake on the back.)
Other details are standard: 120mm rear spacing, 27.2 seatpost, English BB, threadless fork. The 1" headtube is a slight deviation from current practice, but it isn't that hard to turn up a 1" threadless headset and the slender tubes look really good.
We'd also like to draw your attention to the paintjob, in a shade which Gorilla call 'Anthrazit'. It's a deep grey enamel with little flecks in it, durable enough for long-term commuting, and our favourite of the stock colours.
At present, we're only stocking Hattara in 51, 54 and 57cm -- the middle three sizes. We can usually source 49 and 60cm frames pretty quickly on custom order. You can also contact us to order a white or black Hattara. Or a Zengang, which is basically a Hattara with oversize tubes and a 1 1/8" front end. Or even a Tommasini, lugged and lovely...
